So, this morning I went out to Stop and Shop (for milk and bread), stopped for gas, and put some money (one twenty, two tens one five and two ones) along with my license work ID etc in the side door pocket. I had planned to stop for a coffee after so I opened the door at a red light to dump out a water bottle to make room in the cup holder. I was stopped on a railroad bridge with four lanes of traffic, and as I closed the door out went the money and Id's blowing all over the place. The light changed to green at that moment but I put the car in park and grabbed what I could. A dude in the oncoming traffic also stopped to help(!) We got the plastic and the bills we could grab in the wind..I thanked him and went back to the car (nobody honked) and the dude said "you gonna let 'em just blow away?" I said something like "Wha? So. If But." and drove across the intersection to a Honey Farms. I counted the money and figured I only lost about $21. Not bad. I thought I'd take a quick look anyway (the wind was really blowing). So I walked up one block in the wind direction generally and crossed the street and saw a twenty half frozen in a puddle. I had to gently pry it out of the ice. I couldn't believe my luck. Then I walked back across the street and down to where I dropped the stuff to see if there were any credit cards or anything in the road. There weren't, so I crossed the road to make a loop and saw a $1 bill sitting there in the snowbank. Another Festivus Miracle!
